Your Data Stays With You
MinRight was built around one idea: your mineral rights information belongs to you and nobody else. Here's exactly how that works.
A File on Your Computer
When you use MinRight, your data is saved to a single database file on your hard drive. Your properties, leases, wells, royalty payments, tax records, and deadlines all live in that one file. Documents you attach (leases, deeds, correspondence) stay in a folder on your computer as well. None of it leaves your machine.
There is no cloud sync. There is no account to sign into. MinRight does not connect to any server to store or retrieve your data. The application runs entirely on your computer, and your information stays entirely on your computer.
No Cloud. No Servers. No Access.
MinRight does not operate a cloud service. We do not have servers that store customer data. Here is what that means in practice:
No data collection
We do not receive, store, or have access to your property records, lease terms, royalty payments, or financial information. None of it.
No user accounts
There is no MinRight account. No username, no password, no profile. You install the software and use it.
No telemetry
MinRight does not track how you use the application. No usage analytics, no screen recordings, no behavior data.
No phone-home
The application does not send reports back to us. It does not transmit information about your properties, payments, or documents.
Two Things, and Only Two
MinRight does make two brief, specific connections to external services. Here is exactly what they are:
1. License activation
When you first activate your license, MinRight sends your license key and a machine identifier to our licensing provider (Lemon Squeezy) to verify your purchase. That is all it sends. No application data, no property information, no personal details from within the app.
2. Update checks
MinRight periodically checks whether a newer version is available. This transmits your current version number and nothing else. No personal data, no application data.
One Thing to Know
MinRight has a built-in backup feature that saves copies of your database to a folder you choose. By default, this is a local folder on your computer.
If you set your backup folder to a location that syncs with a cloud service (like OneDrive, Google Drive, or Dropbox), those backup files will be uploaded to that service according to its own terms and privacy policy.
This is entirely your choice. MinRight does not push you toward cloud backups or set them up automatically. You pick the folder, and you decide whether it syncs anywhere.
Why We Built It This Way
Mineral rights involve real money, legal agreements, and personal financial details. We did not think that information belonged on someone else's server. So we designed MinRight to work without one.
The result is simpler for everyone. You don't need an internet connection to use the app. You don't need to trust us with sensitive data. And we don't need to worry about securing a database full of our customers' financial records, because it doesn't exist.
