This guide walks you through installing MinRight, activating your license, and entering your first mineral property.

Step 1: Download and Install

After purchasing MinRight, you'll receive a download link and license key via email.

  1. Download the installer for Windows
  2. Run the installer and follow the prompts
  3. Launch MinRight when installation completes

Step 2: Activate Your License

On first launch, MinRight will ask for your license key.

  1. Enter the license key from your purchase confirmation email
  2. Click Activate
  3. The application will verify your key (requires internet connection)
  4. Once activated, MinRight works fully offline

Step 3: Add Your First Property

  1. Click Properties in the sidebar
  2. Click the + button to add a new property
  3. Enter the property name and location details
  4. Fill in the PLSS coordinates (Township, Range, Section) if known
  5. Set the net mineral acreage you own
  6. Click Save

Step 4: Configure Backups

We strongly recommend setting up automatic backups:

  1. Go to Settings in the sidebar
  2. Under Backup & Restore, choose a backup folder
  3. Set the backup frequency (daily, weekly, or monthly)
  4. Click Save Settings

Your data is stored locally, so backups are your safety net. Choose a folder on an external drive or a second location on your computer for best protection.

Note: If you select a cloud-synced folder (OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox) as your backup location, your backup files will upload to that service. This is optional and entirely your choice.
