How-To Guide
Adding Leases and Wells
Once you've added your properties, the next step is recording the leases and wells associated with them.
Adding a Lease
- Navigate to Leases in the sidebar
- Click the + button
- Fill in the lease details:
- Lease name: a descriptive name for easy reference
- Lessee: the company or individual who leased the rights
- Effective date and expiration date
- Associated property: link it to the property it covers
- Click Save
Adding a Well
- Navigate to Wells in the sidebar
- Click the + button
- Enter the well information:
- Well name: typically the name assigned by the operator
- Operator: the company operating the well
- Associated lease: link it to the relevant lease
- Status: active, shut-in, plugged, etc.
- Click Save
How It All Connects
MinRight links properties, leases, wells, and operators together. When you view a property, you'll see all its associated leases. When you view a lease, you'll see its wells. This connected structure means you can trace any royalty payment back to the specific well, lease, and property it came from.
Tips
- Add your operators and lessees first (under their respective sidebar sections) so they're available in dropdown menus when creating leases and wells
- Use the Pooling Units section if your properties are part of a spacing or pooling unit
- Link Division Orders to track how royalties are distributed
